Fence damage

Hi can anyone give us advice please? We have a small plot of land of which most we have held in our possession for over 12 years. we are about to try and register this. We have new neighbours who do not think we we have any right to this land. (There has always been a fence between the properties) Threatened us and said we are going to be your neighbours from hell. They have levelled some of there garden pushing soil up to 18 inches against our fence causing some to lean over. The fence is ours but on unregistered land. (Adverse Possession)
Do we have any legal rights? for damage to our property on this unregistered land.

Do you know who is the actual owner and that the adverse possession law was changed about a decade ago?

Yes been researching the adverse possession for a while I think I understand most of it. Applied for a Sim over 12 years ago. No one knows of any owner. Even the council had to grant an easement for a road to a new estate on another part of this land.0
