Should I put my friend on the electoral roll at my address?

hiya.
My good friend (a university lecturer, 999 out of 999 on experian (I've seen the report), money in the bank) is about to finish getting divorced and selling her house. She has the option of living abroad for three months and will want to buy a house when she returns to the UK. She has been advised that although she'll be getting paid by her UK university the whole time, a break in her electoral roll registration could affect her rating. She's asked if I'd be willing to receive her post, and possibly to add her name to the electoral roll while she's out of the country.
Are there any downsides to this?
I share my house with my girlfriend so we wouldn't be losing any single person council tax reduction. I can't think of anything else. Our credit ratings are OK, but not as good as my friend's so maybe we'd even benefit a bit? Does good credit rub off on you.
Yeah - anything I've missed?

Credit history / credit worthiness is linked to an individual, not an address.
Your friend telling the council and her bank (and anyone else) that she lives at your address when she doesn't, is fraud.
If she moves abroad (timescale irrelevant), that's the address she must give everyone who she holds an account with. Most lenders will close credit cards of a customer who leaves the country without a permanent residence in the UK.
I wouldn't suggest you act as a party to fraud.
If your friend moves back to her parents address and then visits another country for a couple of months that's probably OK.0 -
If your friend wants to buy a house I'd suggest that takes priority, then she can worry about a three month jolly 😉0

Why doesn't she just get her mail redirected to yours and update to her new address on her return from her holiday. She'll take a hit (stability) by having another address on her credit file for a few months.0 -
Hi,
Where to start with this one, and I really don’t want to sound bullish, but, you are describing a problem that does not exist, it beggars belief how people think up this kind of rubbish, it won’t make one iota of difference to her imaginary credit rating or yours for that matter.
Both you, and your friend, misunderstand how the system works, basically forgetting about it is your best bet here.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
