Underground PVC piping for sprinkler system

Hi People,
Anyone got any moneysaving tips for sprinkler piping?
I'm looking at 25mm MDPE pipes. The gardena sprinklersystem push fit fittings would be ideal, but are expensive.
I need things like elbows and tees with 1/2" BSP fittings for the popup sprinkler to attach to.
This sort of thing
There are many push fit systems, but compression systems are cheaper. Is compression reliable when connected to an unthreaded pipe?
Should I just bite the bullet and pay Gardena prices?

Hi!
No tips I'm afraid, just wanted to say that I'm following this thread (more posts, people, please!) as I'm thinking of installing some kind of DIY irrigation system in my garden (pipes round the outside of it, with holes in to leak water directly onto the soil) and I imagine any tips would be applicable to both.
Thanks

With standard MDPE you may need various adapters to connect to the sprinklers. Depending on the type of sprinkler that you want to attach, the GARDENA system may have the correct thread on the T's making it easier. Are you also going to install micro-drip pipe?If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

Thanks for the repliesI'm not going to install micro-drip, it's just my lawn I am trying to bring back to life, it's almost dead despite me watering it every few days.I found a couple of websites that sell more reasonably priced underground pipe fittings. They are www.waterirrigation.co.uk and www.easygardenirrigation.co.ukThe popup sprinklers seem to have 1/2 BSP thread or 3/4 " BSP thread and they sell T pieces with those fittings. Although there are some american sprinklers which have NPT sizes, which would complicate matters.

At a time when water companies are asking people to conserve water due to low rainfall, I don't think it's appropriate to use sprinklers for a lawn. Just live with it like everyone else - it will bounce right back once the rain returns.0

It's been unseasonally hot and dry. I'd nuture your lawn with scarifying, weed removal (manual is hard but best) and use some fish/bonemeal on it just before it rains to make sure it gets washed in.

I have 700L of water butts and a pump to power my sprinklers.I don't think it will bounce back to be honest. Since it died a few years ago, it's never been the same. This year has made it even worse, I removed all the moss and then we had a massive dry spell, causing the ground to dry out. Going to have to re-seed it.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
