PCM Parking Ticket

Hi all, I received a PCM parking ticket last summer at Isledon Village. I paid for a ticket to park there for the intended time of use but came to a ticket the next day. After reading a few of these forums I decided to ignore the letters but it has recently come to my attention I have a CCJ on my credit file. I have emailed Gladstones with the evidence of the tickets I purchased and they have responded with photos they have obtained from PCM stating that I did not supply a valid permit on the vehicle. There was no sufficient guidance on where you could and couldn't park in the area and I was simply in a normal spot of which I thought was correct. Looking for some guidance on what do to next as I don't want this CCJ on my credit file. Thanks

Did you also ignore the Letter of Claim from Gladstones and the formal Court Claim from the Northampton CCBC?

Please tell us where on "these forums" you saw advice to ignore a parking charge so it can be corrected. Such advice has not been given on this forum since the law changed in 2012.

The only way to get rid of a CCJ is to apply to a seta aside which will cost you £255, and will only be granted if you can supply enough information to suggest you would have won a court case had you defended it. The second post of the NEWBIES sticky thread that asks you to read if first before posting has specific advice about set aside applications.

Guidance is in the NEWBIE sticky on the first page of this forum, just below where you click on New Thread.  Read the second post particularly all those bits about set-asides.

Hi, I contacted Gladstones with the evidence I had of paying for the parking ticket, they responded with pictures of the car saying it was parked in the wrong place and did not display a permit

You said you had a CCJ on your credit file.  That only happens if you ignore or don't receive a court claim.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the enacted

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

When you received the County Court Claim Form, did you respond at all to the County Court Business Centre?

    I guess not.
