Car insurance

I have just read that some insurance companies will not insure if you move house.
I had a driver bump into the rear of my car so I claimed the repair from his insurance.
The next year came along for insurance and they quoted me over £800:00 when the previous cost was £250:00
I tried to talk to them and was told eventually that they would not insure me.
Now if you think insurers do not talk to each other then listen:-
Then rest of my attempts to get car insurance from all companies as recommended by " Moneysavingexperts"  was quotes from £800:00 to over £1000:00.
How is possible for my insurance to rise by 400% ?

A couple of reasons spring to mind. Firstly, you are now a higher risk due to your accident, whether or not it was no-fault, and secondly you've probably moved to a much higher risk area. It's nothing to do with insurers that "talk to each other", they simply all have similar models when assessing risk.

Try widening your search with the various comparison sites or go to a specialist broker.

Let's be charitable, and call it chinese whispers. Some insurers won't insure some locations due to a high risk of claims. If you move into one of those locations, they may not cover you.

Because you now have a claim on your record. And, I presume, you've moved and now live in a higher-risk area...?
So you're a much higher risk policyholder... which means they charge you more.

Remember - all it would take would be one insurer to not be part of this "conspiracy", and they'd have much lower premiums and wrap the market up...

BTW, £250 to £800 is an increase of 220% not 400%.
