Help - Cancel Contract / Want my Money back?

Help.....Went to Carpet Right yesterday to get some laminate flooring supplied and fitted. Gave the guy the measuements and he gave me price £216.23....now stupidly i did not check the sizes...

Got home check the invoice and realise something not right here i've been over charged for extra flooring.. by around 28 quid..

Plus to add insult a delivery charge of £20 when i'm less then a mile away..

then included in the price was that i had to pay the fitter £105 in cash....

The room is only 8.5sq meters in size...

They charge £7.50 per square meter...so they said over the phone , no mention of minimum charge.


Now the hard part...I went back to query this and they stipulated that yes they had made a mistake and would sort it when fitted..i also quoted out that the fitting charge should be lower then...suprise suprise..."fitting has a minimal charge of £100"..!!!

THe price i should have been paying is £47.92 for the laminate and £63.75 for the fitting..plus £20 for delivery!!

total £131.67 ...they have charged me £216.23 in total (111.23 paid by cc)

Thats £84.56 of my money going into there pockets for nothing + the markup of the goods....

anyhow I ask to canel and refund my money, there quote "we have not broken the contract"..!!!!

help what can i do to cancel and get my funds back? is there not a cooling off period by law?

There T&C say, "Your order is a legally binding contract. We reserve the right to refuse or make a charge if you change or cancel your order."

Sort of sorted now, went back to shop and has a fight with sales person...in the end i walked away with my laminate flooring & door bar for £65 and he refunded me the rest...

Just goes to show, kep eagled eye'd and check everything....nearly a costly mistake.

You were over charged for the door-bar .... not that I would stir up trouble
