Waiting 8 weeks for refund on package holiday

Hi does it sound right that I’m being told I’m waiting for the travel agents to receive a cancellation notice from the supplier before I can get my refund? The holiday is booked was cancelled in March . I’m still waiting for my money. I’m told the travel agents, Hays are waiting for a cancellation notice from the supplier travelpack ltd. The flights were Virgin flights and not sure who the accommodation was booked through but I bought a package holiday.

Legally you should have been refunded within 14 days if it was a package holiday.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Have you looked at Hays Travel website?
It says this about package holidays:
If the FCO advises against travelling to a country or region and this affects your holiday then we will contact you to discuss your options. If you have booked a package holiday then we will try to offer you alternative arrangements but if this is not possible, or you do not want to accept the alternative arrangements, then you will be entitled to a full refund. If you have made either a hotel only or flight only booking, then the options available to you will depend on the relevant airline or hotel and we will be in touch to discuss these with you.

I've been told by Olympic Holidays it will take up to 12 weeks to process my refund " If you’re unable to accept a Refund Credit Note you can apply for a refund; due to the volume of holidays impacted, we’re asking you to bear with us as this can take up to 12 weeks from your departure date."

If the flights were with Virgin, then I am sorry to say you may be waiting a long time. They have advised they will not make refunds for 100 days after the request is received, so three and a half months! BA, on the other hand, have already refunded a million passengers so it is not impossible to do. Travelpack who appear to be the organisers have received praise from others on this site for repaying as quickly as they received the money but the bookings weren't with Virgin Atlantic

What's possible for BA might not be for Virgin - Virgin have made it pretty clear they have hardly any cash at the moment.
