Even when I ordered cheaper goods, they were OOS by the time my delivery arrived and replaced by the dearer ones. Only Tes*o will charge you the price of the item ordered and I haven't been able to get a slot with them at all. My shopping budget has gone up and up and IMO the sm's are getting richer and richer because they know we are in between a rock and a hard place.ASDA also only charge you for the item you;ve ordered. I can't see how any supermarket could get away with doing otherwise. If you have to choose the cheapest items, then substitutions are going to be to your monetary advantage. However, if the cheap item you want is shown as being "out of stock" at the time you try to add it to your order, then you have to trade up to the next most expensive one. This may only involve a few pennies each item each time, but this adds up.Having worked in retail, I have my suspicions why this could be happening. However, it has been made clear to me that I ought to keep these to myself in future. Some people seem to think that doubts about a supermarket's national is criticism of the shop floor staff.Shops have always had to 'look after the bottom line'. They're business, not charities. What if a supermarket closes 'your' store to cut costs or goes bust?"Life is much/far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it." From visits to various shops ( bearing in mind I go later in the day so they may have had some in which have sold out) Asda and sainsbobs very rarely have eggs on the shelf, and when they do there's very little choice of size of box or free range vs caged. It may well be an overall stock issue. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

You can sometimes work the system. An example. I usually buy budget own brand eggs. 15, £1.18. When I prepared my trolley on Monday, these were shown as "Out of Stock". So, I traded up to the standard own brand ones, 15, £2.00. I've just added some items and checked the egg situation. The budget ones were available. So, I've replaced the £2.00 ones with the £1.18 ones. At least, they're on the order. If these make it through placing the order on Friday, then I've 'saved' 82p by checking. If they're 'subbed', then I've 'made' an extra 82p on this.I apologise for being old. I apologise for being on a low & fixed income.I apologise for not being able to afford organic free range extra large eggs. I apologise for eating eggs. I apologise if you already knew this "wrinkle". If you didn't know it, then I apologise on your behalf for this. No critism of any supermarket, employee, or any other person, dead or alive, is intended or implied. I apologise that all of this seems to me to be necessary on here at present. I aplologise if i've mispelled apologise."Life is much/far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it." Plenty of eggs i've noticed in Tesco Express. Waitrose and Sainsburys seem ok too. Why issue with Morrisons supply chain?0

Given up trying to get anything but duck eggs from Morrisons. Got my second slot from Waitrose yesterday, since beginning of lockdown and have ordered duck eggs. Morrison has the Clarence Court ones for 2.50, 2.59 at Waitrose. Abel & Cole has eggs for the first time since lockdown began. Started a regular order, but keeping my Riverford order because they helped me when I couldn't get eggs anywhere.0

I've been fortunate enough to have received several Tesco deliveries (regular, vulnerable customer but not shielding). I would normally buy Large Free Range eggs - not going into my reasons, its my choice. I have never received them, but have always been given cheaper/smaller substitute and charged accordingly. I do not see this as a reason to complain.
