Insurance - DO I need to declare accident/incident by a named driver on my 2nd car at Insure renewal

Hi,
I have two cars, One a private hire, where I have a named driver. Named driver involved in a hit and run accident. We informed our insurer but did not make a claim. Policy was renewed and insurance company did not increase any price.

On my other private car, at the time of quote Admiral told me that I have to declare this incident, even we did not make a claim and even if it was from a named driver, but as I was the owner of the policy, so I have to declare. They found out as it flashed on claim/accident database. Even though no claim was made, it was not me driving and it was a different car with a hire and reward policy.

Do I really need to declare it, please help?
Thanks.

You have to declare as per the wording on your policy /  renewal.

    Ok thanks for your help.
My original Private hire insurance has no effect of that notification as no claim made, actually my premium has gone down but Admiral has jacked up price on my private car insurance by nearly £170. Obnoxious!

Any insurance companies suggestions welcome greatly.

LV, Direct Line have been great for me, no issues.
They could be expensive for you since we all have different circumstances eg car/s we drive, age, years no claims, area of the uk we live.

Use a comparison website but be honest with the question.

If your going to play with the quotes then dont use your real name, address, I dont bother with this myself, might find a thread on it.

I was with Admiral Group for years, holding a Bell Direct policy, but for some reason they massively hiked my premium at renewal too. I've since switched to Direct Line, which hasn't tried anything similar.

I have been with Direct Line for years, when renewal comes up I check other companies prices if I can get cheaper I phone them and they have always price matched, another advantage is they do not charge for any changes to the policy such as change of vehicle or address etc..

Just renewed mine last week and decreased my annual mileage as been using the car less in the last few years and my renewal is cheaper than last year, plus they are giving a refund for less mileage while the Corvid 19 lockdown is in place.

    Great advice, Thanks.
Did a new quote on Aviva online which was my original insurer... as a new quote, same details, and quote was cheaper than the renewal letter by £nearly £350.00. Even after adding the incident.
I rang them up, and they set it up with out fuss and allowed my other policy with them to run out.
I can't understand why these companies are allowed to play such tricks and rip off their clients. Insurance is suppose to be  authorised by the FCA if so their business tricks need to be scrutinised.

It is, yes. Admiral, after hiking my premium, then reduced it again upon being informed that Direct Line were willing to insure me for rather less. I left Admiral anyway, having tired of its silliness.
