Easyjet Compensation rejection

I booked 3 return flights to malaga in Feb 2020 to fly on April 09 2020.
My flights were eventually cancelled due to Corona virus lockdown so following all the advise not to accept a voucher and to claim the compensation I put a claim in under
EU 261 rules.
I today recieved a reply to say my claim has been rejected on the grounds of exceptional circumstances beyond easyjet's control.
I paid on my Barclay card.
Is this correct and what should I do now.

Go and fill the normal refund form in. No compo will be due.0

I wonder why this issue (from what I have seen) is nearly always with EJ?
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

I suspect its because they only made the online refund form available about a month ago. Prior to that people would have gone on the website and scrambled around and filled any old form they could find in.Life__Goes__On said:I wonder why this issue (from what I have seen) is nearly always with EJ?2 -

I think you're right. In the early days I did see a few posts, for both easyJet and Ryanair where people were saying they were going to just fill out the EU261 form and hope for the best (either in lieu of another form being available, not being able to get through on the phone, or even a cheeky attempt to jump the queue)
I wonder if their EU261 claim team have only just got set up for WFH, or have returned to work this week... seems strange having so many threads in one morning.0
