Hi, just seeing if i can get a rough idea before i wait for hours on hold to my travel insurance company.
I have booked a caravan in France for a week in august for myself my wife and 3 children, i have paid a deposit (£300) with the remaining balance (£700 ish) due soon.
I hadn't got round to booking ferries yet so just the caravan and 1 night in a hotel @ £90
The caravan site is now open in france so can i check the following please?
1) If i cancel it now i will lose my deposit?
2) if i pay the remaining balance but FCO still advising against foreign travel i can claim on my insurance?
3) I have an annual family insurance policy taken out before the pandemic so if i claim i will have to pay my insurance excess, which is £100, will that be £100 per person so £500 or just £100 for me as i booked it? If its per person im potentially better off losing my deposit?
Thanks for any help.

1] Depends on your booking terms. if it's non-cancelleable then I would yes you lose deposit unless they offer a voucher or date switch (if they are open)
2] Depends on your insurance coverage, the caravan park might be covered but doubt the ferry will be if you book one.
3] I would guess at £100 in total, but you do need to check.
