Hedgehog Car Insurance

I have had my car insurance with Hedgehog this past year, was hit by a driver from behind who admitted fault. Her insurance company contacted me and arrange the repairs - I informed Hedgehog of the crash on the day but did not claim through them.
I am now getting my insurance with Hastings who have asked for my NCD certificate. On my renewal for Hedgehog it says I will have 5 years NCD very clearly. I also have an email from a customer service advisor stating it will be 5 years NCD despite the non fault claim. Of course due to this I put 5 years down on the Hastings insurance.
The customer service advisor I just spoke to from Hedgehog is now saying it is an error and should be 4 years NCD because of my non fault crash however the certificate will not arrive until end of policy which is standard.
Are they allowed to not give the year NCD due to this? I was under the impression that as it was non fault and they wont have paid anything out then I would keep the year?

I've never heard of anyone reducing NCD because of a non-fault accident. Unless of course Hedgehog still have it down as a potentially open case.
If everything's been sorted, repaired, and paid for in full and final settlement then I can't see any reason to reduce your NCD. Perhaps you need to confirm with them.0 -
I'm having grave concerns with Hedgehog Insurance as to their credibility. They have stopped you cancelling the insurance On-line by deleting the page to cancel the insurance. The staff say that it is an error but it's been going on for few days now. Looking at other reviews of this company it doesn't look good.0
