So il get right to the point. My business energy contract is up at the end of the year so i have had a number of brokers knocking at my door, one of them said he would try to help me as i had issues with my last contract so stupidly i trusted him! He has now signed me up to a gas and electric contract on high rates that were never discussed and i never even discussed electric with him but of course there is an all important phone call where they talk as fast as they can through the fine print and as it was a busy fay for me i just went with it (yes stupid i know) i was then sent contracts with these high rates on them so i immediately called the broker to tell them this is not what was agreed nor is it acceptable, they are now basically telling me hard luck we have a phonecall and you said yes! What can i do about this? I would appreciate any help at all. My business was already struggling with debt and i just cannot afford to pay these rates. Also surely it cant be legal to sign me into a contract and then send me the contract to look over after its too late??? Shouldnt i be entitled to read the contract first??? Please help me with this guys i dont know what im going to do!

So this does not come under consumer as its a business transaction .So a business is expected to carry out due diligence on contracts .So i suggest you contact your legal department and or a small business forum . You should have a local business advisory / forum .0

There must be some good Utility Brokers out there but the ones I've come across seem to have a background in Double Glazing and Time Shares.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I would do a little searching on business energy mis-selling... You'll find plenty of people offering to help as it is a very common problem.Unfortunately there is little protection for businesses so just because you have unintentionally ended up in an expensive contract doesn't mean it was automatically mis-sold.Get some help, search and see who you want to talk to but keep in mind that the ones who offer to help you recover money from mis-sold contracts are not going to be very interested in a contract that you've only just got into as there is little profit to be made, so maybe look at the independent brokers who offer to help in these circumstances, a quick search yielded this one:... but do your homework this time, check what you are agreeing to and make sure you understand any costs involved etc. I have had no personal dealings with this firm so this is not a recommendation, there are others out there as well so do research your options...
