Linux is a lot harder to write a virus for anyway, because it's a lot more secure.:money:0

Is it true though that these free operating systems are more likely to be attacked by virus creators?
sure I read somewhere that Microsofts engineers are continually looking for ways to exploit weaknesses in free op systems so that they can disrupt them with viruses - or perhaps it was just a rumour.
What happens when the free providers refuse to provide updates unless you stump up cash?
Are we sure that the free providers havent included scumware that blocks out the much superior microsoft products?
generally virus writers aim for the os with the larger amount of users so they generally write for windows because theres more users and its not as secure as linux/unix/bsd
the disadvantages of linux are hardware compatibility with some distros (some things need a little setting up or need drivers for instance my dell printer doesn't have any working drivers for linux out there at all lol) and if you've been using windows all your computing life it can take a little getting used to but its alot easier once you get going
for the record i dual boot xp and ubuntu 7.10 but i recommend ubuntu/kubuntu or pclinuxos for first time users they're the easiest distros i've found to use for new adopters0
