Electric oven hasn’t worked since power cut last week. Any suggestions?

Hi all
Taking into account the name of this site I would be grateful for some advice what to do with the following. I am a landlord of a small property close by and the agent today wrote to me...
The tenant says that the gas hob and the electric grill are both fine, however the oven is not heating up. He also confirmed that the power cut out about a week ago and he hasn’t used the oven since. This indicates to us that there is a problem with the element in the oven and it probably needs to be replaced.
I certainly don’t intend to get involved with any technical electrical works myself and I’d rather not get a contractor out to fix the oven (which only costs £150 brand new). Is there anything you guys would suggest before I make my next move? Bear in mind the property was completely (professionally) required just 4 years ago and the oven was brand new (albeit a budget brand).

Any advice on what basic steps I could take? If I need to buy a new oven I will. Just wondered if you guys had any basic advice.
Cheers.

This can be easy. The clock MUST be set to close a relay. It does not have to be the correct time, just any time. Then the power is restored to the oven.
My coffee machine has a clock/timer and will not function after a power cut until the time-of-day has been set.2 -
My Creda Concept electric oven exhibits the same characteristics as Moss5's coffee machine!I would further advise reference to the oven's handbook, which if lost can probably be searched for online.1

Do you think the oven caused the power to trip out? Did it trip the RCD on the fuseboard?1

As mentioned above, a lot of ovens won't operate until the clock has been set and the oven put into manual mode so it could be as simple a thing as sorting that.1

Agree ^^^ If there is power at the oven then usually the clock must be set before it will heat. Often when first getting power the clock/timer/delay will flash. That indicates you need to set the clock. If however you do not get power at the oven (clock does not flash etc.) then it is the feed to the oven that is the problem. Switch is off? Rcd tripped on the consumer unit?Lastly if the clock can be set the oven fan (?) comes on when asked to heat, the oven light comes on all when you demand heat, even low heat at 100deg C but there is no heating then it is likely to be the element.1

My cooker blows the circular fan element every few years, knocking out the RCD in the process. The element is less than a tenner and takes about 30minutes to replace, I think it is on number 5 now.
Nothing to see here, move along.2 -
Wow. Great advice. I hope it turns out to be the case

Did the tenant RTFM?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Another vote for "set the clock".
Also, I vote for "all clocks in household devices must by law set themselves automatically and adjust themselves for BST". I hate setting and adjust clocks and having to keep them in sync.1 -
I find the easiest solution is just to adhere to the timezone of the room you are in.
