Money Moral Dilemma: Should I renew my gym membership even though it's currently closed?

The gym could well be faced with council tax and the costs of buildings and public liability insurance, let alone maintenance, but that's its problem, not yours, and you definitely shouldn't be asked to pay membership fees when you can't use it. It's a business, not a charity.
Why not cancel membership, do your own keep-fit at home, and rejoin when everyone gets the all-clear?0 -

My local restaurant/pub has reopened for takeaways, they have asked for voluntary donations in lieu of discounts in the future. I have done this (fortunately I am in a position to) as I want to help business that I hope to see back. This is relevant to your gym.......but of course the risk is that they do not make it. Interesting to see so many who do not seem to care...............0

y gym is adding the months of lockdown onto the end of annual memberships. Even if they weren't, I get a really good renewal rate (fixed to what I paid when I joined 9 years ago) so would have to think hard before I let my membership lapse as it would cost more to re-join. When my current membership is up for renewal, I will decide what I want to do as things should be much clearer by then. It's not difficult!
