How much more drawn out can it be...

(... to put something in an A&L e saver account?)

I 'opened' the account with a nil balance and set up my direct debit (for paying in) on an a non A&L (i.e. a 'real') bank account.

I requested an opening deposit on Friday 23 November

Two days ago it said on the 'pending payments' screen '01 Dec'

What is that? When they credit, when they finally ask?

Yesterday it just said 'pending'

Today (still no balance) it said 'none pending'

Meanwhile the money is still in the current account untouched - and neither does the 'available balance' there show that anything is being claimed

Looks like the 1st is the date they make the request, and your money will (be claimed and) arrive next Wednesday 5th December...
...a Direct Debit transfer from a current account held with another financial institution will take eight working days to clear in the first instance, thereafter Direct Debit transfers from the same account will only take four working days...

The 8 working days for the initial DD deposit is a pretty standard feature in the industry, which is why your first deposit for all accounts operated like this should be for the minimum allowed.

I think Milarky probably means if the DD was due to be collected on Monday it would have been showing (and affected his available balance) on his current account as of late Friday night/Saturday morning.
