The mysterious Smart Relay Device..
OVO give out a thing called a Smart Relay Device, which allegedly solves the problem of gas smart meters not connecting via the electricity smart meter. You can even have more than one if your house is particularly palatial and one just isn't enough to get that elusive connection. Do any other energy suppliers give these out? I asked SSE (who are owned by OVO) and they didn't seem to know what on earth I was talking about.
I can't post a link to the OVO details as I haven't been on the forum enough, but just search 'Ovo Smart Relay'.

Thanks @[Deleted User] for the link. Does anyone know any more about which other suppliers give out these devices? e.on have confirmed that they don't.

Update: I've not been able to get a relay device, and I have now moved to Octopus. Would be interesting to see if the government picks up on the fact that it compelled energy suppliers to install potentially thousands or more of 'smart' gas meters at great cost, which still aren't working as smart due to connection problems with the electric meter. Giving out cheap relay devices would solve this at a stroke.

Just another item that uses electric that's not needed, although it might only be a few pence per year just give the company your gas readings by their site or in an email to CS.Someone please tell me what money is0

The gas meter is battery powered, so again no direct charge to the customer. The bad news: the smart meter rollout is costing every household well over £400 whether you have them or not.0
