I find it hard to recommend either at the moment. I've had a Tide account for ages but was frustrated at their slowness to get accreditation and lack of transparency with time frames. I applied with Starling and activated my card. Waiting four days and counting for a Ltd application (including weekend which I am told they process).0

how long took the application process? because by me they are still checking the details after 24 hours0

Starting won't be doing anything with new accounts until 1/6/2020.
They are gonna deal with their own customers first.0 -

The Tide company account was quick to set up. The bigger issue is the absolutely abysmal service since opening the account. Every single transaction I have tried to do has required customer "support". The only reason the account is still there is the even worse service from NatWest where I simultaneously started the account opening process. 7 weeks on and it still isn't finished. Good thing I went with a bank where my relationship goes back personally to 1987 and for business in the past two years. I am embarrassed to say that most of my career I have worked in investment banking. The service the retail side of banks give to their customers is shocking. And the excuse of Coronavirus has worn thin - my business is affected as is probably everyone else's and as my customers don't accept that from me, why should I expect it of people I am literally trying to give my money to?.0
