Barclays Travel Insurance

Hi,
I'm not sure if other people have posted a similar query so apologies if they have.
I booked a cottage that holds 30 people for a stag do in January for the weekend of March 21st with Sykes Cottages. I paid for the booking myself and it is only my name that appears on the booking confirmation. As this was just as lockdown started there was no precedent or procedures to follow, Sykes told me I couldn't claim a refund and we are unable to re-arrange the booking. I have travel insurance with Barclays which told me that I will be able to make a claim as the booking had been made in January, it was for more the 2 nights and I was unable to get a refund from Sykes but I had to cancel the booking outright and send in proof. I went ahead and cancelled the booking. I made the claim around the same time. Barlcays asked for proof of booking, proof of cancellation and asked how would be staying in the property. I told them that it would be friends staying there but I had made the booking myself and paid for it myself.
Today I was told the claim was only partly accepted and I would only be able to claim for my portion of the total booking. The total cost was £1,916 and there was 18 of us staying so I would only get back £106.
The T&Cs of the insurance states that it is just me covered but as it was me that made the booking and paid the cost I would have though I would be entitled to the full amount. Am I correct in this or is Barclays right? Is there anything else we can do?
Any help is much appreciated.
Glen

Barclays are more than likely right if you had personal travel insurance rather than the actual stay insured.
Was there 18 names on any the paperwork you sent Barclays? as wondering how they know

It was just my name on the booking. They got in touch asking for names of people that would be staying there but they weren't on the booking information.0

If you are the only one named then you are totally responsible for everything at the cottage, (eg any damage they would chase you and only you)
I would make a complaint to Barclays stating I was solely responsible for the cottage and payment, all other people I might have invited are legally irrelevant, as they form no part of the contract.
So unless you settle my claim in full as the only person named on the contract , I will have no option than to raise a dispute with the Ombudsman (this is free)
