New telephone pole and equipment.

We've been having all our telephone poles replaced recently with new ones and the last few days engineers have been coming back and forth adding new equipment. Any ideas on what the new equipment could be? The box on the top right was a new thing they installed today.

Probably just connectors. I doubt there's power up there so it won't be anything complicated.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Somebody elsewhere mentioned FTTP, I'm wondering if those cables hanging further down are going to be used in a cabinet somewhere they've yet to install.0

The box on the right is an FTTP splitter (fibre manifold)

As above FTTP splitter . Two nodes in use at my pole only so far .

How does it all connect. I assume the cable hanging down from the splitters (there's actually two there) is the fibre cable in which case how is this linked up to the fibre in the cabinet which is a good way down the road, will they digging up the road? Also how will the nodes be connected to the properties that require it?JJ_Egan said:As above FTTP splitter . Two nodes in use at my pole only so far .0 -
They did this to the telegraph pole across from me last year. It made a strange hum until they finished the work but you could only hear it when near the pole. No, they did not dig up the road. And no they did not put any new connections to the houses only working on the pole and making a small hole at the bottom of the pole which they tarmacked over when they finished.

Standard cable ducting to pole for the fibre , standard dropwire setup from pole to the property just using fibre instead of copper.neilmcl said:

They're out again today, this time they're rolling out cable from this pole's location all the way up to the top of the road to another telegraph pole and there's also some cones further down the road and round the corner where the cabinet is situated. Very interesting to watch.0
