8.8 grade steel bolts to wall mount a TV

Here is one for you clever lot.
I have a TV that weight approx 9kg. I plan to use 4 x 8.8  graded steel bolts 40mm behind it to hold it to its mounting arms
Do you guys  feel this bolt will be up to the job?

Thanks as always

If you look here, there is a table of "proof loads" in kg for various grades of metric bolt.

I would have thought that 40mm dia bolts will hold anything up

Do you not have to use bolts of diameter, thread pitch and length that match the holes on the tv??

And the correct length else you'll end up making contact with the circuit board. The fixing between the TV and the mount will be acting almost all in sheer so you don't need anything more than the little screws supplied with the TV.

    You'd think so lol.
Wrong diameter, they won't screw in, too long, they'll screw right through the back of the screen.  :open_mouth:

The recommended M6 will be fine. Honestly.

A  M6 rated 4.6 has half the tensile strength of an 8.8 so according to the chart quoted previously each bolt will take roughly 500Kg before it breaks
you have 4  so I don't think you need worry
