It'll be because the promo has finished, you're mixing non promo transactions in, you're withdrawing cash, or you lost the promo for a breach.0

Of course, we can only guess. Whether or not MBNA are answering their phone doesn't give us access to their system to see what's happening on your account.
Is there an option to send them a message via your online banking?
If not, send them a letter.
Continue to pay your contractual payments until the query is settled.0 -
I only did one transaction, the original money transfer. I haven't touched the card since, I rang them at the time to check repayments were set up correctly, which they were. I haven't touched the card in any way since and I've not missed a single payment.Deleted_User said:It'll be because the promo has finished, you're mixing non promo transactions in, you're withdrawing cash, or you lost the promo for a breach.0 -

seems strange.. i've had various cards with them over 25 years and i've never had the problem.Deleted_User said:It'll be because the promo has finished, you're mixing non promo transactions in, you're withdrawing cash, or you lost the promo for a breach.
as zx81 says, they're the reasons that MBNA could legitimately start to charge you interest..
BUT, if you have completed a balance transfer within the terms, the promotional period still continues, you've paid the minimums on time (always use DD for this), and haven't used the card for any other transactions, then they shouldn't be charging you interest. i would persevere on the phone - i generally find them to be helpful once you can get through.
if they have charged you incorrectly ask for the full value of charges to be credited to your account immediately, and some compensation for the time and worry: that will help clear a bit of the debt.0 -
Sorry if this is a silly question, but have you also checked your credit card transactions to make sure that a) there's no 'surprise' transactions on there and b) repayments have been received on time? If minimum payment is made by direct debit then it will arrive on time but if you do a manual payment or standing order sometimes it takes an extra couple of days for some reason.Siarad said:I have checked my debit card statements thoroughly and have met all repayments on time and I can't find any evidence of communication from MBNA suggesting there had been any problem or that they were changing the terms of my agreement.
The other thing to check is the original T&Cs, I think sometimes a card is advertised with x number of promotional months but then it's accepted with less months.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

MBNA statements list the expiry date of promos, so should be easy enough to see what it was from an older statement, and if it's been removed.0

Have you set up an online account with MBNA? If not suggest you do so and you can see lots of information on there, together with details of promotions on your account and the terms. Much easier and quicker than the post - also allows you to monitor your accounts quickly so that you can check that all the transactions are valid.0

Are you didn't apply for a card that had say 0% on balance transfers for x months and 0% on money transfers for 3 months? The promotions they offer are easily mixed up!Either that or the only thing other than a purchase is that the money transfer fee wasn't paid off fully on the first statement causing interest? If you look at your first statement it should show you what deal you signed up for.... it will state the promotion and end date for each applicable.0
