Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I have huge news - the three potatoes (really 2 but 1 was big enough to cut into halves) that were a bit sprouty so I planted them have now got leaves just poking above the soil. Yesterday I found another 2 with sprouty eyes so they are on the kitchen windowsill and I'll plant them once the sprouts are a tiny bit bigger - late for putting them in but I don't think it is catastrophically late. I had tried to tell myself not to look every day as in watched pot never boiling but that was a miserable failure.
Other than that bit of excitement, not a lot happening here. Might bake a cake, then again, might not. Right now I'm just sitting, must get my large 'arris in gear, do yet more weeding and later on, some hoovering.
Nelski, my mum would have been the same, she would have taken the lockdown as a personal slight and would not have managed.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all,Dull day here although it is warmer. Another wet dish rag here too as pooch woke me at 4 wanting to go out. Then she was unsettled as there was an owl hooting in the trees right at the back, so I ended up on the sofa for the rest of the night. DH was oblivious as usual, his 1st words were 'what you doing there?' when he came down this morning!Had a long chat with DB1 last night, he was unusually chatty but said they were making good inroads into their bottle of red so that could explain it.
He has managed to decorate their living room and kitchen , he's been on furlough for 2 weeks now, 1 more to go then he and SIL start 2 weeks annual holiday.
Topsy hope your DS gets the job.Bella ooh possibly a new dog, exciting!Nelski, poor mum, it must be so confusing at her age, and poor you having to sort things out, it can feel overwhelming dealing with fractious parents, I know. That's all my boring news out of the wayso I'll love you and leave you, take care x

Morning everyone
Just having a read with my cuppa. then I'll go down to see mam and dad. Didn't go down yesterday as it rained and was windy all day. It's a bit brighter today but still a chilly wind.
I've rubbed the gloss paintwork down with sandpaper and have brought the tin of paint in from the shed so may get started on that later! It's mainly the bannisters and window sills where the cats have scratched.
I'll listen to podcasts as I work to take the silence away.
Watched a good movie last night - The guernsey literary and potato peel pie society - quite predictable but nice, Its on Iplayer if anyone wants to watch
Right I'm going to move - hope everyone has a pleasant day.

Morning all! Sunny today and am waiting for SM delivery. I did nothing yesterday but I did watch almost all John Torode's Korean thingummyjig. Now I want to eat kimchi all the time...I'm so easily influenced..We had jacket potatoes and tuna mayonnaise and the cat left us alone. I was opening the tins in the kitchen and telling the cat, no, this is for us, humans eat tuna too and the OH piped up, 'so when have you ever seen a cat catch a tuna?' which made me giggle for a longer time than was necessary...He has nearly finished painting the house wall now, so that just makes the fascia on the lean to look awful [it is rotting and flaking badly but we've been resisting with the promise of a new spangly extension- will that ever happen?] so that's another job on the list. Can I borrow camelot for a while?I put some inadine on my knee yesterday, just taken the dressing off now for it to crust up and get some air. It is not pretty. I see a lot of shorts in my future. Good job it is lockdown, don't want to scare people with the lepers knee from hell. Mind you, it's no worse than what I used to do to myself when I was a child, except I really don't want to revert to being that clumsy again, I'll be in A&E in no time...Today I have no plans except maybe a little bit of riddling [will cover up the knee again and wear knee pads] to finish off the stones by the back door, there's still some weed fabric showing, and I might have a socially distanced visitor tomorrow. She's been helping organise one of the testing areas [ no contact though phew] and I have some cucumbers and tomatoes for her. I'm surprised actually, I thought I'd have loads left over but most of them have gone now, there are only a few beefsteak ones left and if no one takes them [ will put them on local gardening club for collection] they can go out the back outside in the earth. My beans will probably go out today as well.Second cup of tea is now incoming...Time to sign off...Thank you all for my knee good wishes, it'll crust up soon and then I'll be back to normal. except with less falling over hoefully. Hope you'rs gets better soon too candygirl. If you like Dead to me you might light Afterlife. AOD, wonder is Greta is related to Carl, how nice ot have plants named after you..Rosy, sticky toffee pudding is not a bad consolation prize
TA, glad sparkle is happier with her poo tray...hope your brothers op goes well. Scarlet, your picnic sounds nice. Bella, hope the dog meet and greet goes well. Monna, have a very relaxed day [don't tip the coffee]. Good luck with DS jobwise TT. snoozer, I feel the same way about plans for the house. Every year for the last three years they have bene scuppered by one thing or another. I'm contemplating selling the damn thing. Camelot, ooo, a wire brush! I'm not kidding either, I need one...:) Gers, ours is opening next week I think, with only waste that can't be gotten rid of in the normal bins, no commercial waste, and you must have an appointment. Nelski, bad brain! down boy! I kinda feel sorry for your mother, but I feel more sorry for you having to organise all this stuff. Is it wine o' clock yet? Ruby, take it steady....OK, hey all reading along, hope you're all pirouetting through your Man-sized Monday

Morning all, the sun is out already ! It did come out yesterday afternoon too and Dad called round for his mended hedge cutters. We did say we would deliver but I think he wanted a change of scenery, he hasn't been out and I'm surprised he has lasted this long. We sat on the patio in a socially distanced triangle, Dad at the top and me to one the side in the sun and Mr Fix It on the other side in a bit of shade as his head was burning. We enjoyed a chin wag and had rocket lollies, then I had to help him back down our steps so I may as well have not distanced myself. I did however jump straight in the shower and put my clothes in the wm. I know he hasn't been anywhere but he is not so particular in talking to his neighbours up close and personal due to his deafness, so I just wasn't going to take any risks. Later we had a face to face call with DD and DGD. It seems DD fell out backwards of her new hammock and got stuck, so SiL ran for his camera first before helping her up out of it, I too got the photo. I have no idea where she gets her clumsiness, I never fall over.......... yeah right and my Mum was the same. It is always lovely to see them, but I miss seeing them in person them a heck of a lotYesterday I did some potching about in the garden and then I realised it was too late to cook ( read I couldn't be bothered ) so I had a quick chicken salad and himself had chicken and oven chips. Today will more garden meandering with my trusty secateurs and for tea I will use up the last of the chicken and some sad mushrooms, maybe in a chinese stir fry. Not very adventurous am I ? I've got to put the bins out too, exciting times.Topsy I hope your DS can get sorted, it must be a worrying time for everyone.TA good luck to your DB for his op and I hope he has a speedy recovery.taff and Candygirl How are the knees today. Better I hope.Nelski just lots of hugs, I know how the simplest of things can turn into being very difficult to deal with.bella I hope all goes well about the rescue dog.Right onwards and upwards, albeit at a snails pace.Take care and stay safe today especially if you have to go out to work or shopping.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

dp1 I have also watched the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, really enjoyed it and especially the bit at the very end where the actors all read out bits. Fortunately it was long enough since I read the book for me not to remember everything and get cross about things being changed for dramatic reasons.
Another one to watch out for is This Beautiful Fantastic, was on IPlayer but not at present, that's lovely.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10 -
Very late tonight.........everyone I know seemed to want to talk to me.
Was tempted to visit local hardware which opened today but didn't . Was spitting rain when we went for our walk but never got further than that all day.
Love to all in pain for whatever reason.
Stay safe everybody.
