O/S Daily Monday 18 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy and overcast start to the day, but temperature warmer than it has been, yesterday was glorious.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, carrots, swede, broc, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight it'll be sausages either with bacon and mushrooms etc or with mash, veg and gravy.
Once lunch had been prepped and was cooking I organised pack ups - so then had a chilled afternoon - spent some time on here looking at some different recipe ideas etc.
Back to work today.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. Hope work goes ok for you - are you still working your normal hours, or have they been reduced? It's not a bad day here, brightish and not too cold.We had a nice few hours out yesterday, we went to the seaside, it was lovely. There were plenty of people about but there was still loads of room fo the necessary 2 metres separation zoneI took sandwiches and biscuits, so we had a picnic lunch in the car. Under normal circumstances we are regular picnickers, and have a small picnic stove in the back of the car and we boil our little kettle for fresh hot drinks, but yesterday we just took a couple of flasks of boiling water. What a nice change it was.Heaven knows if we'll get away in the caravan this year, I think all we caravanners and mobile home owners are waiting hopefully for an announcement.Today, we're just doing the usual jobs, and will try and get out for a walk.Hope everyone has a good Monday, take care folks14

Morning Posters,
Thank you nmlc for the start. I know that you prefer being at work so I will spare you the Monday morning jokes.
ScarletRibbons, It was a lovely day yesterday. I do the exact opposite of most people. As I live by the sea, well, a short drive away, I tend to avoid the beach in the good weather because the place is overrun with holiday makers, but on Friday we drove round the beach way to the garden centre and it was lovely to see people out enjoying themselves. There was even an ice cream seller doing a brisk trade. I was pleased to see that the queue was nicely distanced.
It looks to be another sunny day. I have no great plans, which is just how I like it. I am drinking a cup of coffee at the moment, from the comfort of my bed. The radio is on, the sun is streaming through the windows, my book is ready to be picked up and all is well with my world.
I hope everyone is OK and taff has not damaged any other part of her body.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Morning everyone
I am a bit hit and miss posting these days. Still working as normal now on days off till Wednesday.Ds2 is struggling a bit with his mood. He has however got a trial for today with a local company in the type of work he went to college for so I’m keeping my fingers & toes crossed for him. It would give him a focus each day if he had work,
washing machine on, kitchen to be cleaned and downstairs to be swept and mopped.Taking 2 cycles to repair shop today to see if they can repair them as ds2 will need one for work, if all works out.
hugs to anyone that needs one, take care and enjoy your day

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I was a lazy stay-a-bed this morning! For the first time in a long time I actually had a good sleep and managed just over 8 hours! A record for me.
The sun is shining and its forecast to be warmer, which it might be if that pesky nippy wind has dropped. Of course no plans in store, will amble along and see what jobs tempt me. I still need to have a good rummage in the garage for the trough planters but a quick glance around didn't reveal them. A lot of unnecessary junk did though! And NELS I could join you with painting the Sistine Chapel.
Need to christen today's eats. No left overs as yesterday I ate up Saturday's leftovers. I could fancy fish but my stocks of it are running low and I am rationing myself on that.. Plenty of everything else so I won't starve!
Op day for my DB today. It's a worry in itself even going to a hospital for something other than the virus these days. There's chance you might come back home with something worse than you went in for. Although he says on his twice weekly visits it has been very quiet everywhere with everyone in masks etc.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care and stay safe xx ps not that I'm still counting but this is Day 64 of solitary and I am still just about sane!! In fact I think I am getting used to living like a hermit! xx

Morning.
Scarlet, I agree about the caravans and motor homes. We got our motor home two years ago and used it a lot in the first year. Then last year when Steve was ill we just went away for a couple of days in it but he couldn't cope so we decided to wait until this year to use it again. I feel as if we've been jinxed since we got it, it's almost putting me off keeping it but I know that's totally irrational.
I have to confess we broke the rules yesterday by going to sit in Chris and Crystal's garden with them. It's a huge garden so we were well over 2 metres apart the whole time, I felt much safer than I would have in a park. It felt so strange not to give them a hug though.
Nothing else of any interest happened all weekend though and the week is stretching away in the same uninteresting fashion so I woon't bore you all anymore.14 -
Morning All
It rained all day yesterday and was really miserable, today looks a little more promising but not much. I've become used to going out into the garden whenever I please so it was a bit of a shock yesterday. Still, I had a lovely day doing absolutely nothing, apart from eating!
Ooh, a new dog bella? Hope you have a good meeting.
Scarlett, a trip to the seaside sounds good, sadly we're not at that stage yet.
Good luck to Master Topsy.
Thankfully I won't have to water the allotment today but I'll go up and check on things, I think the onion beds will need weeding so will get that done. I also have something to collect from Screwfix which is only a short detour, it's a new wire brush - woohoo!
May or may not have work to do today, it's our team in the hub so the admin person on today should pick up anything but we'll see.
Love your thought for the day monna, could have been written for me!
Hope you all have a happy Monday, take care. XX

Morning folks.Just gearing myself up for the day. I've been occupied doing the WW1 transcribing, sometimes I veer off to investigate some more about particular soldiers, mostly sad stories about being awarded gallantry medals. There's a promise in the air for recycling centres opening on 1st June so more emerging happening. I imagine there'll be huge queues to start with so I'll not be joining them, it'll just be nice to have them open again.Hugs to all those in need of one. Happy Tuesday to everyone.14

Morning
TA I envy your good sleep my mind decided it was the best time to chuck a load of stuff my way ...thanks for that brain!
Not so nice weather here I followed the forecast and put shorts and a tee shirt on then half an hour later I was freezing so the jeans went back on. Fairly disgusted with the state of my hairy legs though so need to sort that if the shorts are going back on this week...sorry TMI
Mum had an almighty meltdown yesterday which probably explains my lack of sleep too. Her ear is still not right and I just think everything got on top of her. She was like a child demanding this all ends and I imagine stamping her feet. I struggle with childish reactions to this when we are all going through the same but I did try to put on my sympathetic daughter head and understand. I have arranged for a private audiologist to visit her next week although its going to be interesting to get her to understand he will be in full PPE and she needs to wear a mask too. Thats todays task.
Anyway today I have a lot of care calls to crack on with and a messy kitchen again ho hum
Have a good day all

Morning all
Lovely bright and sunny day here again we are so lucky with the weather. We went out on the bikes yesterday and really enjoyed cycling 11 milesit genuinely was lovely we stopped by a pond and had a snack and a drink with not a soul about it was so lovely. I suffer from OA too and I do find the riding helps to ease it for me.
Despite being shattered last night I could not sleep at all and was still awake at 3.30 and then when I dropped off eventually I kept having horrible nightmares which kept waking me upso Im a bit of a wet dishrag today, not sure if we are going out on the bikes but will see.
Dinner tonight will be the filled pasta with garlic bread and salad so nice and easy, We need to have a quick tidy through this morning and hang the washing out.
I think I will need a nana nap this afternoon for sure.
Bella good luck with the pup please keep us posted xx
Topsy good luck for your ds xx
Have good days all xxx13
