EON Final bill

Options
Hi all, am looking for some info on a final bill.
I made a switch from EON to AVRO in March, so AVRO took over my supply on the 14th April. EON have just taken a payment for a final bill of £153.70 without notice. How can this be when my tariff with EON was a fixed tariff which ended in April. EON had already taken a payment in April, and last year I was in credit with EON and received a refund from them, now nothing has changed with my usage, I have always given meter reads...Where has the £153.70 come from?

Have you checked that the meter readings on this final bill are the same as the opening readings you gave Avro?
When was your last previous bill?
In March we had just come out of the winter period so bills are usually higher so even though they had taken a payment for April there would probably be some overhang from the winter months.

If you look at your final bill I think you will find - a debit carried forward from your previous bill + cost of energy and standing charges used from that bill till the date of your swop less any DD taken in that period.
There will also be a statement on that final bill and/or any accompanying email that the balance will be taken by DD.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

The 'fixed' part refers to the price per kWh for your energy, not the amount you pay each month.
As the others have said, check your final bill for the details of how that amount was calculated...

As a Avro customer for a good few years just a few tips for being an Avro customer. If you have not spotted it yet Avro take the first DD in advance. Always enter the meter readings when Avro ask you to - this way any estimates Avro produce will be acurate. Avro will not tell you when the bills have been produced so check about 4 or 5 days after the bill is due to be produced and always keep your own copy. Avro will not tell you when a better deal is available so every few months check especially when prices are going down - just ask for a quote without logging on, the system will recognise you as a customer and then ask you to log on and you can switch online. Because there are no exit fees you can do this at any time - even a week after you join. Good luck and remember because you are paying a DD in advance and because you have switched in print you should build up  a healthy credit going into winter which Avro will want to retain.

    Morning tonylfc5,

Already some excellent advice on the thread so thank you.

It says on the final bill, how much and when we will collect payment for any outstanding balance, if you have an online account you can view the bill on there.

We will have produced the final bill based on reads provided to us by your new supplier, as others have said please check the final reads match your start reads.

The fixed tariff means that your unit prices won't change for the period of that tariff, your payments can go up and down to reflect the amount of energy that has been used.

Having a good look through the final bill, will show what we've billed for and will show how this amount has been calculated.

    Thank you

Checked my final bill and it is not correct. Eon claim they have been received a reading that does not match reality (around 1000 out) from Green. The reading is obviously inconsistent with the last reading in Eon's records from a month previous. I asked them to stop the incorrrect bill, but they said as it had been submitted and there is nothing they can do.  So I will have to stop my direct debit to avoid them "stealing" my money.
I have contacted Green to attack it from their end, but this is supposed to be routine and easy.
    How common is this?
How long will it take to sort this out?
