Would anyone know if the Brembo  Discs sold by Europarts  are the UV coated ones ?
Brembo do two types for my car, UV Coated or non coated ones.
I messaged Europarts several weeks back, but they never replied, also on the Europarts website they don't use the Brembo codes, they use their own coded instead so I can't tell from that.

Does it really matter? The coating is worn off the friction surface the first time you apply the brakes.

If one vendor can't/won't give you the information, buy from somebody that can/will.

I got the coated Brembo ones for my Volvo a year or so ago.

I'm not entirely sure what the coated means but the central hub part of the disc is painted in like a grey speckled enamelled paint. There wasn't any other coating I could see. The hub is still like new with no rust whatsoever so if that's the coating they mean then I can totally recommend it.

UV coated, there's a new one. I guess it allows them to sell the same discs for much more money. UV isn't the problem anyway, damp is. UV causes no problem but rain getting onto exposed ferrous metals causes them to rust. However given it's not been a problem for the previous 100 years other than a disc with the centre looking a bit scruffy cosmetically because of surface rust there's no actual beneficial reason to spend more money on a disc that is coated than one that isn't. You can achieve the same results with £2 tin of hammerite. Apparently if you choose bright red it's worth a second off the 0-60 time and an extra 10MPH. ;)

The claimed benefits of this coating are all in the manufacturing process. Nothing for the consumer.

The price difference of the two types is negligible Euoparts with the 50% code discount work out the cheapest and the parts they sell are 100% genuine, there are fake Brembo parts out there.

After getting recommended Brembo pads from my local garage several years back, I have found them to be the best I have ever used, so I get them fitted to all the families cars now, they last twice as long as the original pads that came with the cars from new.

If the rust is held at bay, it may help the rear disks more than the front. Front disks often wear out, where as rear discs can suffer rust.

Yes, it’s the rear discs that are badly corroded on my wife's Audi A3, they corroded very quickly was first mentioned when the car was 2 years old, since then it usually gets an advisory on the mot, and it’s 6 years old past now. so was thinking about getting them changed before the next mot.

We live in Aberdeenshire, where there is a lot of salt put on the roads at winter.

My Astra GTC is a 8 years past and no problem with the rear discs on it.

If the brakes are working, then the corrosion being referred to is not on the friction surface. If it is, then the calipers are sticking.

If it's just on the edges, take the wheel off, and tap the edges with a hammer - the scale will come off.

"Your brake discs are corroded they need replacing" has been a good money spinner for Kwik-Fit and many other places over the years. Once upon a time the average person in the street understood that metal exposed to water rusts, that there's different degrees of rust and surface rust tends to be nothing to be concerned about so garages didn't even bother. However nowadays when most people can't even change a bulb or a tyre they can be taken for a ride.
