Best car insurer for older drivers?

My dad is in his 90s and drives a Fiesta.  His quote from Saga has gone up 30% to over £1000.
I'm checking the comparison sites but welcome any recommendations on the best insurer for older drivers?

maybe try a local broker to see if they can get a better quote, but the older you are it seems more expensive above 80

Direct Line and Aviva don't appear on comparison sites.

You should get quotes directly from them.

Also, don't forget to go via cashback sites such as Quidco as you can get quite a lot back from them. I got £40 going via Quidco when switching to LV.

My mum is 84 and was with Saga who were nearly £800. She's with Direct Line now who were about £300. Also Direct Line send everything out in the post which she found reassuring.

What do you mean by best?  Best in quality or cheapest (cheapest does not mean best)?

I suspect Saga would not be cheapest or best.

It's really a case of which company gives you the cover you want at the best price (not always the cheapest quote). We've been with the same company for a few years because their renewal quotes have compared favourably with all the others but if we found something we thought better we'd change. Varies from person to person depending upon exact circumstances.
