Whether these hard searches on your credit file actually matter is an entirely different question. If you are not planning to apply for major credit (mortgage, big loan etc), or for a job in the financial industry, in the next 6-12 months, you might as well completely ignore the impact on your credit files. Even if you are about to make such applications, one or two applications for current accounts would generally not matter. If you have a pretty iffy credit record to start with, obviously a current account application can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.0
