Hi, not sure where this question belongs best, let's try this board first...

I'm looking to invoke a chargeback for a payment using my Amex via PayPal. I know it has to be done via PayPal's own buyer protection process and that there is no S75 option as well here.

This is for a TUI holiday (familiar story, they cancelled, initially said they would refund - have an email to confirm - but have failed to do so within either their own timeframe or the timeframe laid down by the Package Travel Regulations. I've given them quite a bit of extra leeway to be reasonable but they will not answer any of my messages or give me any specific timeframe when I can get through to them on a call, so we're now at this point, 8 weeks later and no refund)

This is for about £7k in total, and was 3 separate payments - 2 deposits and the balance. I need to do this now because the first deposit is getting close to timing out of PayPals process.

So I'm intending to dispute all 3 payments today with the same narrative reason - has anyone else been through this process with a TUI holiday, and if so was it successful (and how quickly)?

My 'worst case' concern is that TUI dispute it somehow (never done a PayPal chargeback before so not sure how it can work) and it gives them a get out to delay repaying me for even longer. But right now, apart from maybe sending them an LBA, I'm not sure what else I can do to escalate...

Suggestions welcome!

Good to know thanks! How long did it take to get the money from raising the dispute with PayPal?

Well well I wish I had done that sooner. Filed an issue (or rather 3 as there were 3 payments). 1 hour later, closed in my favour, refunds processed. Confirmed by TUI, showing on PayPal account.

    Brilliant...
