SEISS Average Calculation

  • Hi, I have read this with interest as I have the same problem. The year 16/17, I was on the NEA scheme and just starting up and I earned less than £3000, which has brought my average down drastically. I am really hoping I can ask them to review it and only take 17/18 and 18/19 into account for their calculation. I appreciate they are doing something for me but my grant so low.

I have another example from a friend. Self Employed Earnings 2018/19 £24000. 2017/18 for 1 month of the tax Year £2000. The HMRC calculation £26000 divided by 24 months, payment £2600. But actual earnings are £26000 for 13 months. If a proper average is used payment would be £4800.

Have you seen anything from Rishi Sunak to give anyone the slightest glimmer of hope that he will change the laws HMRC have to abide by?
