Currys - 1 year warranty? Or 2?

An LG smart-TV I bought is showing signs of having developed a fault. My receipt shows I bought it 28th May 2018 from Currys (instore), which is very close to the 2 year mark. Their website suggests typically they only offer a 12 month guarantee - and this a repair rather than replace service, I have no additional warranty.
I thought that despite Brexit the 2-year rule was still in place but I don't really understand the details and I know many stores offered 1 year warranty despite the 2 year rules previously.
Can anyone offer any advice/clarification/information?

All that this refers to is that the EU brought out a directive that states all goods must have a 2 year warranty but it's not a warranty in the sense it's generally used in the UK.
All it means is that consumers have 2 years in which to bring a claim for faulty goods but they are still required to show that the fault is due to a manufacturing defect.
The UK didn't implement the directive as our legislation (which at the time was the Sale of goods act) gives consumers up to 6 years to attempt a resolution for faulty goods.
After more than 6 months from purchase, the onus is still on the consumer to show an inherent fault (one that was there at the time of purchase although it may not have been apparent at that time).
Once the lockdown is finished, it would be worth contacting Currys and explaining the problem and see what they say.
They may offer to inspect it themselves or they may do nothing in which case you would have to get an independent report stating the reason for the fault and then submit this to them.2 -
The fault is one I can see reported all over Google, though why it would manifest just now I have no idea (it complains about memory shortage). Is the 6 year thing the same as the "reasonable life" legislation I've heard of or entirelt different?0

Don't confuse warranty with consumer rights. Does the item have a separate warranty (I ask because lots offer 5 or 6 years now) or is it a CR issue?0

Why do people keep buying tv from Currys,John Lewis give a FREE 5 year warranty and Richersounds is 6.
This will last longer than the Corona virus.0 -
Presumably because they want to go into a store and see the TV, then it becomes an impulse buy rather than buying the same model from one of the two retailers you mention.0
