Over credit limit

Hi
I recently, a complete oversight, went over my credit limit because I am on a payment holiday for my credit card. I didn't realise the interest charged would take me over. I have never missed a payment, defaulted, made a late payment, yet I received a letter to say it had been passed to a collections agency. I immediately made a payment to bring me back into my limit but I am now worried I am now going to be getting calls and letters from the collection agency! Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance

The collection agency won't call because there's nothing to collect.

I find it difficult to believe that a credit card lender would call in debt recovery in such a position that has been described....unless we have had only half the story.

Short of posting a picture of the letter I can assure you this is the case. £5k on the card, no missed payment. Yes I only make the minimum payments and therefore haven't seen the balance move much because I then need to use it again near the end of the month but 2 days after realising I was over I received the letter.
I was sure these forums were for help and advice, not to be made out as if you're a liar 🤔
  • Is it a collections agency or just the collections department? Most banks will have a collections department that are responsible for contact about overlimit or late/ missed payments, but is still part of the bank rather than the separate company that a collections agency would be.

Question are you paying interest on this debt? If so may be wise to move it to a balance transfer option.....
