DKU-5 nokia cable, driver problems

Sorry if this should be on mobile phone board-happy for you to move it.

I have a nokia 3220, and I have bought a DKU-5 cable from ebay so I can put my photo`s on my computer.

The cable came with a cd, which seems to do nothing. After having a look on here, I went onto Nokia.com and downloaded the nokia pc suite, but still having probs. Am I on the right lines? don`t know alot about computers and the bit I do know is self taught.

Should I send cable back,or am I not pressing the right buttons?

there should be a driver on the cd which you have to download first (before the pc suite). try to uninstall the pc suite and run the cd again. i have heard many others having similar problems so I wouldnt worry...you definately aint the first.

First I assume you are using windows XP or 2000? That is all the nokia suite will work with. If you are using a DKU-5 cable you must install a driver before you install the Nokia suite. The driver is available from http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,72026,00.html

You will need to delete the nokia suite from your PC then install the driver and finally reinstall the Nokia suite (use the latest version from the above link).

There might also be a USB to serial driver that you need to install (it will be on the CD you got with it). Mine for instance requires the installation of a TU3410 driver, but others vary.

Is this an official Nokia cable, or a budget equivalent. I've got a budget equivalent myself, and have had numerous problems to the point that I gave up. For some reason the Nokia drivers apparently only work with a Nokia cable. If you bought a budget equivalent it should come with it's own drivers. I couldn't get the suite to notice my phone, despite it being plugged and and drivers all installed.

Google about, you'll find a number of people having problems with the DKU-5 cable.

it`s a budget one, done as you said and still no luck.
Is there any other way of getting the photo`s off my phone, it`s not blue tooth.

Have you tied using universal software like
oxygen phone manager?
there are a few you can try
