Thank you.  I have all his bank statements.  There are no large payments in or out just some borrowing and payments back from school friends.  I know it’s wrong to treat 17 year olds like this and threaten their career aspirations and treat them like a criminal.
One has to consider the risk posed to others. As you say, it's not been established whether he is innocent or guilty. I think it's right that people suspected of crimes are prevented from working in sensitive positions until/unless they are proven innocent. As a parent and a teacher, you'll be aware of the sensitivities around people in your profession with respect to certain allegations that could be made against them. Similarly, I'm sure your partner can appreciate that being associated with certain activities is career-limiting for good reason.

Based on what you have described, it is probably a different financial account than the bank account that has caused this. It could be an account that has been opened fraudulently and that neither of you have any knowledge of.

I’m not going to bother with this site.  My son was 17 in January is a prefect has very little money doesn’t but or sell on eBay has received 7snd 8s in his GCSEs and is studying  history maths further maths and business studies.  Thanks for the advice that at 17 he will need to reconsider his career.  I have applied to cifas but having trouble with proof of address as he has no printed statements and. Cifas would not accept letter with National insurance number on as it was over 3 months and I am awaiting a letter from his school as they said this would be accepted.  I am in a massive state of worry.  The letter states exactly the same thing as the other person.  The banks are unhelpful - he is only just he again received an award from the school for hard work today.  I am a teacher and his step dad works in finance.  I’ve read some of the threads in here and it seems it is a case of guilty until proven innocent
Im really sorry your son is going through this. Has he had any accounts before this? has he ever lost ID ? has he ever had his pin with his bank card/ misplaced his card with it before?

What did you mean by has very little money doesnt but or sell on ebay? is he selling goods via ebay?

It might well be the cause of the closure of his account. any info helps

If you want to work in banking/finance then you need a squeaky clean financial/criminal record. A friend got taken out off department and dismissed as his partner was declared bankrupt.
If you have a fraud marker then you would be lucky to get a reply to any application.
that seems insane to me unless they held a joint account that went / declared bankrupt

That's how money mules are used. Launder the money by transferring around and around accounts. With technology the trail is easily identified. The real criminals stay well clear. The kids are expendable to them. Plenty more than get coerced or see a way to make some quick money.
