Hi thinking as about buying a car so got a RAC report done. It has two warnings - 1 is about plate changes. There was a plate change very early on - and the second says this: the milage data for this vehical is more than one year. What does that mean?
In the further info section it says
In the further info section it says
SOURCE
DVLA
MILEAGE
6000
DATE
2008-04-18
does anyone know what this means?

It means exactly what it says on the tin, the last time the mileage was recorded, presumably by an MOT was back in 2018.
Personally I would've gone for a proper HPI report.0 -
Ok but mot history say that is had an mot on the 3rd June 2019. I don’t quite understand why DVLA would not have record if that if it’s on gov check site0

Yes did Hpi check and it’s clear0

Best to download the latest MOT certificate then to see what mileage was recorded on that, it's probably more accurate than the HPI's mileage register as that's a voluntary record I think.0

Ok I have checked. It had an mot in 2014 (recorded milage was 70000). Then the next mot is 2019 (recorded milage 79000). On Hpi no record of accident. I have emailed the seller to ask what is going on.0

What is the mileage on the clock for this car now?Scienceguy said:Ok I have checked. It had an mot in 2014 (recorded milage was 70000). Then the next mot is 2019 (recorded milage 79000). On Hpi no record of accident. I have emailed the seller to ask what is going on.
The seller will likely just say the mileage on the RAC report was probably given in error, there's no way to prove otherwise. If the mileage on the MOTs are consistent with the actual mileage on the car then it shouldn't be of too much concern. At the end of the day, if you are concerned then walk away and look for another car.0 -
You mean no record of it having been written off.Scienceguy said:On Hpi no record of accident.
Collisions and damage aren't recorded. Only write-offs are.0 -
So it's been without MOT for 4 years? Could have been an accident that was repaired or it was just off the road for a while. I'd get the RAC to give it a proper inspection.Scienceguy said:Ok I have checked. It had an mot in 2014 (recorded milage was 70000). Then the next mot is 2019 (recorded milage 79000). Unless it's particularly rare or cheap then I'd walk away.Herzlos said:
