Tui October half term holiday

We have a family holiday booked for October half term to tenerife with Tui. We have paid about £600 deposit on a 3k holiday to the holiday village. My husband wants to pay the £120 administration fee and just change holiday till next year. We can't imagine that the fully activity based and inclusive holiday can be as advertised in October and we are nervous about travelling anywhere this year. I said that if we paid the balance in July we are covered and can move it or claim a holiday voucher.  He doesn't want tui having 3k of our money for another year and would rather take the  £120 hit and not pay the balance until next year.

Just wondered what anyone else thinks.
If the holiday cannot be fully inclusive as advertised ie sports and kids clubs etc, are we entitled to a refund or exchange.

Thank you

  • If you travel next year, any insurance you have will not cover any ongoing impact from COVID19. So, for example, if you find that you are not permitted boarding due to one or your party have a temperature, or your return is delayed due to quarantine or anything else COVID19 related you will not be covered.
If you take a voucher there are real risks that you may lose your money if TUI go bust.
Far better to get your cash back if you can, and not make any plans until things are a bit clearer.
Consider how things have changed beyond all recognition in the past few weeks, and how confident you are of predicting what things will look like next year.

If the holiday is still going ahead but isn't as advertised ie not all clubs and entertainment  is there any rights for cancellation with S75

I doubt it for such small changes tbh. Do you think it would be reasonable to get the full cost of a holiday back because there wasnt a kids club and no crappy entertainment in the evening?

I don't actually think so.   If the flights and hotel are open in October then you would be expected to go.  Unless you cancel, of course.

So really, it is up to you which you find more acceptable.   Pay the balance now and wait and see what October brings?  If you really do not want to go in October no matter what, then I guess you have no choice.   You will not get your cash back at this stage for a holiday booked for October.    Check the terms you agreed to and what penalties  there are for cancelling your holiday and weigh up which is the better of two evils. cancel or rebook?

I don't agree with streaky bacon that if you book another holiday with TUI and they go bust, you will lose your money.  If you rebook  a holiday now for next year, it should still be ATOL protected as with any new booking.   You are being offered a new booking with a fee attached.  Not vouchers, as you would not be given vouchers anyway until October and that is only IF the situation remains unchanged. i.e. no flights and hotel available.

I’ve paid £300 deposit with TUI for a holiday to Turkey in August. The balance of £2500 is due Tuesday 19th. Should I pay it (by credit card) then get a refund if cancelled or forgo the deposit? I'm getting so confused! Please help!
