Hope you’re all well during these times. Really hoping someone can help me out because this has stressed me no end today.
Not sure if this topic should be here or the credit score section.
So today I decided to check my credit score on Experian for the first time in 7 months to find out I had missed two credit card payments in the last 6 months. So, after investigating I realised this was on my MBNA credit card.

I used to pay the card manually but switched to direct debit and it caused the following confusion. My direct debit comes out on the 13th of each month and my due date for my credit card is also the 12/13th of each month. Me being stupid *sigh* thought the payment was for the next month, so I was paying a month in advanced. So, example August 13th Payment would be for the September 13th due date. So in September 2019 I started my own business and drained my account that month, my direct debit therefore didn’t come out on the 13th September and I thought *well that’s fine I’ll pay it when I get paid on the 22nd September and its well before the due date of the 13th October* (hoping that makes sense). So, I paid off a massive £2200 on my credit card (nearly the full balance) on the 22nd September. Never thought anything of it again. On January 2020 same scenario, Payed on 22nd Jan thinking early for 13th Feb.

So today I see it says I’ve missed two payments after checking experian. Now I know after speaking to MBNA it’s my fault my payments where actually 10 days late and not early as I had thought (rookie mistake). I explained to them the situation and asked if anything could be done considering I always payed above the minimum amount they said no and that I should have had a text from them to say payment was late. Which I didn’t because if I had I would have obviously clicked on and quickly have got the money together to pay the late payment.

So, from my research MBNA unlike Barclay card don’t give you a 14 day period after due date to get the money in before they report it to the credit agency. So even though I was only 10 days late (mistakenly) it was still sent.
Is there anything I can do about any of this as I was hoping to get and really need to get a mortgage by the end of this year. How badly will this affect me (my score has gone from excellent to good) but will show 2 missed payments for 6 years. Also didnt recieve notification to say payment was missed either. Sorry for such a long post, I’m crap at condensing things.

I am sorry. but your post is too long and is all in one chunk.

If you are disputing the data, then you should complain, specifically asking for a goodwill gesture.  Obviously state that it was all your fault and how sorry you are...If you don't ask, then you don't get....

Two missed payments isn't the end of the world in the long run and your credit score can be disregarded.

Just stay on top of things going forward.

Use a broker if you're concerned at the time of your mortgage application.

Thank you, I'm typing from my phone and it wouldnt let me split the paragraphs. I think I've sorted it now, will also try cut some it down it is a bit (very) long haha!

I tried asking for good will as advised online, but was told no can do, as much as i paid over the minimum or never missed a payment  they have to report facts. Even said well could they at least add a note to it and explain and theyve said no.

Thank you for the reply,  so I decided to totally pay off my card today after finding out what had happened. Payed off the £550 left. Hoping this will help my situation.

If you have been paying interest then you may have trailing interest on your next statement. Make sure you pay it or you will have another late payment.
