Having saved a tidy sum on two new tyres following the advice here on MSE, any suggestions regarding the best value exhaust replacements?

I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

If your keeping the car for some time don't buy the cheapest exhaust you can find - they are cheaper because they are not built well and do not last very long.
Do you have a local independant volvo specialist? They should be able to fit an OE spec exhaust sourced from one of the many euro car part specialists for probably about the same cost as the cheap nasty stuff from a fast fit place.0 -
I have a Hyundai Coupe which is not UK spec (grey import). The local Hyundai main dealer wanted over £300 for a new exhaust because they had to order one from Korea (UK Hyundai exhausts don't fit my car). I happened to hear an advert on the radio for a local garage which does custom made exhausts, made from marine steel and with a lifetime guarantee. I got one for £150 fitted and when it got damaged, they fixed it free of charge even though it was my fault.
I am planning on keeping the car for a good while yet so I think I did OK.
The garage I used is Britannia on Siddals Road, Derby for anyone who's interested. This space has been intentionally left blank0 -
I'd be a bit worried that an 03 Volvo needs a new exhaust.
There maybe an underlying problem with the car.
My dads 1998 Volvo S40 is still on its original.

I am coming around to that view, and whilst i'm in my warranty period, me thinks they will need to take a look.

If you read your warranty usually it states that the exhaust is a wear and tear item therefore not covered by the warranty.
Is the car used for lots of small journeys? Often as the car does not get hot condesation accumulates in the exhaust pipe and this causes the exhaust to rust prematurely0
