Canadian Affair - No Refund

Hi, Have just been told by Canadian Affair that the flight booked with them to Vancouver on 10th June has been cancelled, they booked it with Air Transatt and their policy is credit voucher only, no refund. The flight has cost over £1,000 for a once in a lifetime cruise from Vancouver to Alaska, I probably will not go again and would like to have the refund, what are my rights?

I've booked through the same Tour Operator, although via a Travel Agent, for our Honeymoon. Was due to fly 01/06 and have only had it confirmed as cancelled on Monday this week. Currently our Travel Agent has gone silent citing 'we are waiting on Canadian Affair', I'm planning a charge-back on the day we are due to fly if we haven't had the money back by then.

As to your rights; you're due a full refund within 7 days if flight only, or 14 days if a package holiday. Trying to enforce your rights will be the challenge, most of the Tourism industry are trying to force vouchers on their customers and are very slow to relinquish the cash. 

I would suggest a charge-back, I've just looked on our card issuer's website and it states:

My flight or holiday has been cancelled due to COVID-19, what can I do?

If the merchant is offering a refund, we would first ask you to allow them an opportunity to refund your credit card before getting in touch.

If they are not offering a refund, or you have been referred to your card issuer to make a claim, we may be able to reimburse you. Please download and complete our dispute form
