How to de-register from PayM?

Hi all!

I've been trying to register my mobile number for use in the Barclays Pingit app. However, I'm getting an error message saying my number is already registered with another bank or BS. I've contacted every other bank I've held accounts with, and they all confirm I'm not registered. I've asked the Pingit helpdesk whether they could tell me what bank I'm supposed to be registered with, and they say they can't.

I've now run out of ideas - does anyone know how I can de-register my mobile number from PayM if I don't know what bank it's registered with?

TIA!

Contact @paymnow on Twitter. It looks they get similar Qs all the while and they could have a means of helping
  • @colsten: Thanks. I've tweeted them, though they seem to have disabled their DM functionality.
Has anyone had any luck or similar experience with this?

How do I change my Paym registration from one provider to another?

You can change which account your mobile number is registered to at any time. If your mobile number is already registered  for Paym with another participating bank or building society, you should contact them first to de-register.

If you are unsure which organisation your mobile number is registered with, contact the bank or building society you want to change to and they will be able to help you.

So you have you spoken to all the banks who offer the paym service ?

As I said in my post, paym advise you to contact the one you want to change to who can help you - not all the others

Try sending yourself £1 using PayM and see which account it goes into.  Some banks, e.g. Lloyds, let you send payments using PayM even if you aren't registered for PayM at that bank.  It's only the account receiving the payment which needs to be registered, not the sending account. Nationwide, on the other hand, will only let you send via PayM if you've registered with them for it.
