I intend to buy my nhs lease car.  I asked for a quote as I retire and return on the 30th June and return 24 hours later but on reduced hours and so wont qualify for salary sacrifice.  I have been sent a quote  today and I'm happy with the quote but it gave me 30 days to cough up for the car which I will all being well.  My lease was due to end on 16th November this year normally.  I don't have any excess mileage charges.

**The quoted purchase price is the amount required to purchase the vehicle only. This amount does
not include any additional charges which may be payable under the terms and conditions of the
lease agreement under which Lex Autolease has supplied the vehicle to the lessee, including but
not limited to early termination (if you are purchasing the vehicle prior to the last 30 days of your
agreement) and excess mileage charges.**

What Happens Next?
If you wish to purchase this vehicle, please:
Read the Important Notes section on page 2
1. Sign and date the purchasers section and confirm the proposed date of sale (or ask the person who is
buying the vehicle to do so if it is not you). This will be the registered keeper.
2. Sign and date the STATUS DISCLOSURE DOCUMENT (or ask the person who is buying the vehicle
to do so if it is not you)
3. Ask your fleet manager or other authorised representative of the lessee to sign and date the fleet
manager section, and obtain authorisation for Early Termination if required
4. Either scan and email both pages back to driversales@lexautolease.co.uk, or post to the address at the
top of this letter
5. We cannot agree to sell the vehicle and transfer ownership of it to you until the Early Termination quote
has been accepted. Title to the vehicle will not pass to you until we have received both the Vehicle Price
above and, if applicable, the Early Termination sum.

Are they saying yes you can buy your car due to your retirement but you have to cough up the rest of the cash up to November as well as the purchase price?  Also I got this quite like grease lightening from nhs fleet this morning not expecting the quote to be from this morning. Can I get a re-quote nearer to the 30th June?

I'm not sure how the NHS scheme works but yes there will be early termination charges. It might not necessarily be the full monthly payments up to November, but someone will have to pay the charges, either you or the fleet team.

I bought my lease car on retirement and the quote included the price of the car, predicted mileage on leaving and early termination based on my leaving date. I got a late quote anyway but I can't see that it would have changed much.

I did manage to haggle with them, pointing out it was soon due for a service, and they reduced the price by £750 so worth a try.

Thanks ChrisW  how soon was your service as the car's first MOT is due in November,  as the car will be 3 years old by then.   It had its 2nd service in December.  I might not get away with this but good to know.  :)   Its a Kia and still has at least 4 more years warranty on the car which is good.  I felt I got a bargain to be honest I was expecting to pay a lot more with it being an automatic so pleased with the quote saves me the pain of having to search for another similar one and purchasing the unknown.   :D

I bought mine in May and the service and MOT where coming up in July. Don't forget, you're also saving them disposal costs.

Also, assuming the scheme includes maintenance, make sure that any minor niggles or repair jobs are taken care of and that the tyres have plenty of tread. The other good thing is that there's no inspection so you don't need to worry about any scuffs or dings, although you will have to accept it as is.
