LV Multi Car Premium Increase 2020 -2021
I've just had a quote for annual renewal of car insurance from LV= for June 2020 to 2021
Ford Focus '03 reg it has gone up by 5.9%
and
Vauxhall Corsa '62 reg up by 9.6%
No claims made in past 12 months.
I've emailed LV= with the followin and await their reply!
"Dear Sirs,
I'm in receipt of your renewal quotation.
1. Please would you supply the figures that compare this quotation with the the premiums that I paid in the year:- 2019- 2020.
2. As far as I can see your premiums have increased by between 6% and 9.6% - please explain.
3. As you will appreciate since March the milage on both vehicles has not been more than 10 miles (just enought ot keep them in running condition).
I thefore consider that your increased charges for 2020-2021 are excessive.
Before I make alternative insurance arrangements, I look forward to your commemts."

I'm with LV at the moment, have been for about three years now.The renewal I receive is always silly. I look around alternatives, phone them and each time they have matched the best quote I am offered. Even their's as a new customer is much lower.Phone them, in preference to e-mail, after finding better quotes and see what they can offer. Make sure you are not on auto renewal and when you phone them, if you are, tell them to cancel that anyway.0

Surely you should be in possession of the premiums paid for the last year so why are you asking for them again.
The mileage that you did or didn't do in the past won't have an impact on the future premium will it. Have you given them an accurate mileage figure that you envisage you will do for the future policy dates? Do you think you'll do an average of 10 miles every couple of months for both cars? Surely not.0 -
Seriously!
As above surely you know exactly what your premiums for the last year were, and it's completely normal for premiums to rise. If you do think it's excessive then get quotes from other insurers and either use them to try and get yours down a bit or simply move on. A simple call would suffice rather than that email of yours, talk about the wrong way to go about things.0 -

Just get quotes every year. Blithely renewing is a surefire way to waste money.
BTW, the renewals should state last year's premium on it, so I'm not sure what you're asking for - especially since you already know how much they've gone up. You want them to show their working? Not happening.
You may well have been using the vehicles over the last month or two - and they may well have been parked on the road. Using cars isn't illegal.0 -
Who writes this stuff to companies anymore?
Comparison sites, about 3 of them, get quotes. Ring your current insurer and tell them you've found cheaper, if they don't match or beat your best quote bye bye to them.
It's a ritual I go through each renewal whether I think it's a good quote from them or not, end of.

Thank you all for your prompt comments. In the current lock down I'll use my time to get some quotes.Of course I know what I paid last year and how to calculate a %age change. To avoid any off topic discussion about the actual premiums I decided in not quote changes in £'s.I pay on demand not auto renew.I've now found last years premium total in the first para of LV's letter - think I was expecting to see it against each vehicle. Thanks again - stay safe.0
