How can Groupon keep getting away with this ?

I know there have been a few other threads but need to vent. My wife bought garden furniture about £500 and it never arrived - they kept fobbing off with the worst customer service. And then by magic the product is not available but we cant refund you - only we can give you Groupon vouchers not a money refund.
1. The worst customer service ever - only emails
2. Don't think the deal ever existed at all given the amount of other similar stories
3. But the IMPORTANT point is they don't give a refund only groupon vouchers
Surely if something is not supplied it is against the law not to give a refund.
Will need to ask the credit card for a chargeback as not getting anywhere with Groupon. [
But this practice is just awful for a big brand like Groupon.
I read about it here as well https://metro.co.uk/2020/05/07/groupon-refuses-give-refunds-hundreds-customers-12668100/
Shocking - shame on you.
If anyone has any other experiences or suggestions to actaully speak to anyone at Groupon please do let me know

"How can Groupon keep getting away with this?"
Easy. Because there are people too easily blinded by a "bargain" and too cheap to pay for things with proper money.4 -

what is proper money?????/Aylesbury_Duck said:"How can Groupon keep getting away with this?"

You see something advertised on a well known website and you buy it with 'proper money'
You should receive what was advertised. End of. No excuses.0 -
But exactly what are you seeing advertised on a well-known website? That's the crux of this. Is it garden furniture or is it voucher/credit with which garden furniture will be bought? If it's the latter (and you need to check), then you have what you paid for: a voucher/credit.directdebiter said:

How much was the same set from a proper retailer? My bet is that it was more. Now you're seeing the reason why the "bargain" isn't so good after all.3 -
I have never used groupon nor my wife. But she saw a picture of something that looked nice for £500. Its a lot of money. She shouldn't have to read small print (if there was any) about buying a voucher or not. The pic and description are of a product and there is a BUY button. Its absolute misleading and I would understand if it was £50 instead of £5,000 but this was a general purchase. So no excuses. Groupon are misleading consumers into buying goods that don't exist and then they issue credits they have to spend at Groupon. And there customer service send an email response and only after 24 hours. AVOID GROUPON.Aylesbury_Duck said:

Spending £500 - in your own words: "a lot of money" - on impulse, without checking what's being bought from a retailer based in Switzerland that she's never used before isn't a good idea.directdebiter said:

I don't quite understand your post.directdebiter said:I have never used groupon nor my wife.
If neither you nor your wife have ever used Groupon, how can you now have a problem with them?
As to:are you being serious?directdebiter said:She shouldn't have to read small print (if there was any) about buying a voucher or not.
Who spends £500 on something and doesn't think it's worth reading the small print to see what they are actually doing with their money?5 -
Sorry should have said never used Groupon before this purchase.shaun_from_Africa said:

Yes how many times have you analysed 6 pages of terms&conditions for a purchase from a well known brand???
If you have then you have too much time on your hands.0 -
But £500 in our bank account, and not £500 worth of Groupon vouchersdirectdebiter said:
