Pot luck on whether you will get fined or not

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone just applied common sense.
I see no reason to push our already stretched emergency worker any further. Can people not respect the difficult jobs being done at the moment and certainly not look to be argumentative with police officers.
Simply don’t give the police any reason or need to stop, question you or to instigate a fine in the first place.0 -
Robin I think you are worrying unnecessarily. Your journey is both reasonable and necessary to get dads things and meds. Also as someone pointed out, the sale and purchase of houses is now approved and nobody has added "so long as it is in the same town" So go, get your dads stuff but remember, no loos along the way (that would be my biggest problem on a five hour journey ha ha)0

No loos? I just stopped at the Wooley Edge Services (Moto) on the M1 near Wakefield about 30 mins ago and used them, and the shop and M&S was open. Who has told you all the toilets at service stations are closed? 🤔Tedber said:Robin I think you are worrying unnecessarily. Your journey is both reasonable and necessary to get dads things and meds. Just carry your driving licence with you (which hopefully has your current Cornwall address on it) and if required, show it to the police through a closed window.
Personally I don't think you have anything to worry about given the volume of traffic I've seen today.0 -
Ha ha...I didn't mention motorway service stations bradders - had forgotten motorways even existed been so long
. Just going by the plea for people not to travel too far as normal services/public toilets aren't operational. Anyway it was supposed to be a bit of tongue in cheek banter not to be taken seriously as am sure there are a lot of bushes around if not on a motorway

Are you suggesting that people should meekly comply with police officers interpretation when they've got it completely wrong (sitting in your front garden for example). Appropriate challenges are necessary to ensure that police powers aren't being applied over-zealously.Westin said:Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone just applied common sense.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
