I was transferred to PfP Energy from the superb Better Energy when they closed. PfP have done nothing wrong and I am generally happy with them. On the last bill they indicated that there was a better tariff available for me if I wish to transfer. However, by moving to the new tariff, within the company, £30 exit fees are payable. Is this correct? I have changed tariffs within other companies before and never paid exit fees, so it doesn't seem right.

There is no rule on this one, some suppliers charge you to switch between their own tariffs, some don't.

Yes it is right, I did the same with Zog I saw they had a cheaper tariff (was not the cheapest) and asked if I could transfer to it without incurring a fee. They said I would still be charged, fair enough as I was in a fixed deal. I am now with Outfox which I was a bit worried about for two reasons on the CEC their reviews are poor and also they are so cheap I thought they may go out of business. However so far so good, I can now transfer to their cheaper tariff without a fee, also when I phone them to do this the phone is answered right away.0

BUT...
If you are on the tariff from PfP that they put you on that effectively mirrored the Better Energy tariff, exit fees do not apply to that specific tariff. (whether or not you would have had them with Better Energy)
