Paying after a contract end date
Hi, I've had a car on PCP for 3 years with PSA Finance. This contract ended on 16th April and they were supposed to collect the car. Due to the Corona Virus situation Manheim (their collection agency) are unable to collect. PSA have advised me that I need to continue to pay for insurance for the car as any damage while in my care I will be liable for and that I will not be reimbursed the insurance I have paid from 16th April or the cancellation costs of this insurance. I am paying £30 per month to keep this vehicle insured and it's no longer my responsibility?Could anyone advise me on this or have been in a similar situation? I have tried to read the small print of my contract but I can't see that this states my position after the contract end date as normally this would be returned? TIA, Sam

It's exactly the same situation as you may normally be in for a few days, but just for a longer period.
Yes, you're responsible for the condition of the vehicle until such time as it's returned.
No, it's not exactly a foreseeable situation - what is currently?
Do you NEED to insure it? No. So long as you've got somewhere to store it securely off the public road, it could be uninsured and SORNed. But you'll still be responsible for it, you'll just take that on your own risk instead of the insurer's.
Thirty quid a month is a fairly small price compared to what you've been paying to have the car available. And you still have it available.0 -
I have the same situation, all be it with Arval. The contract ended on 8th April, but I had arranged for it to be picked up on 27th March. My insurance was up for auto renew, which I had cancelled. Anyway on 26th March, I got a call from the recovery company saying that they would not be picking it up. I tried in vane to contact Arval, phone was a waste of time, emails you just got auto response that they would contact you, but never did. Finally last week I got an email from them saying I needed to get insurance and supply a photo of the odometer. They also said in a separate email that I had agreed to extended my contract and would be charging me. The amount could be checked via there website when I received the access code(arrived yesterday). This morning I see they have taken £296.00 from my account. I am fuming! There was no agreement, car is out of contract. It is stored on my property.
I just cannot believe that they had the nerve to do this. I am wondering if I can counter this with charging them a storage fee? For sure their customer support gets a rating of 0 out of 10.0
