How do you cancel a Virgin Holiday?

We thought we had booked the holiday of a lifetime for August this year with Virgin Holidays.  Thankfully we only paid the deposit at the time.
Our balance is now due next week.  After much debate we have decided to cancel.  Even though it hurts, right now we only stand to lose the deposit.  Rather than have a much larger sum tied up with Virgin.  Family commitments mean we are unlikely to be able to postpone the holiday in the next two years anyway.
Virgin Holidays have proved to be impossible to contact.  We presumed we could hit a "cancel" button from their website - instead the tab simply tells us what it will cost us, but not actually how to cancel.  It mentions notifying them in writing but not to whom or how.
We are know already phone contact is impossible: we're asked to enter our booking reference and then cut off.
Does anyone on here know how we can cancel a Virgin Holiday please?  Our main concern is that if we don't do so by next week, we are liable for 30% of the cost of the holiday.  So we need to ensure that they receive it, process it and don't come back at us for the money?  Any pointers gratefully received, thanks!

Can you not send them the information that you are cancelling on xx-xx-2020 , understanding that you are willing to lose the deposit paid ,sign and date the letter and have it sent registered delivery to their head office ,keep a carbon copy for your reference and you can at least stand your ground later.
I do not think that A) your holiday will go ahead anyway -you could hang on and get all your money back
                                B) Virgin Holidays will take you to court for the remainder, they have bigger problems , good luck with sorting it out.

Is there a customer service e-mail account you can send to initially and then follow up with the letter.

You need to check online that it shows as delivered.  Assuming it was sent yesterday it should show as delivered by tomorrow afternoon - the usual 1pm guarantee has been relaxed at the moment.
There is a problem sending a letter of this kind using a service like this as the recipient could refuse to accept it.  All you end up with then is proof of non-delivery.  The recommended method for serving legal notices and for situations like this is to post a letter first class at a post office and ask for a free certificate of posting.  Courts consider that the letter is received two working days later.
I'm sure the OP's will show as delivered and they can then take a screenshot in case there is any dispute.  Save some money next time and use first class!
