Does Malwarebytes real time protection replace an antivirus software?

Hi folks,
Having been given a free Malwarebytes (same as paid real time protection) by my bank, I would like to know if I could now uninstall Avast free as I do notice a slow down in windows 10.
I know that one time, people were advised that Malwarebytes was not a direct replacement for an anti-virus package, but just wondering if this still stands today?
Thanks for any info on this.

Uninstall Avast and use the inbuilt Defender in Windows 10. And install MBAM ... they do different things.
(That's what I have ... Win 10 Defender and MBAM Corporate).4 -

I think the OP is most probably referring to the RBS offer of Malwarebytes premium.
This is a complete security package, including anti virus protection. It will deactivate and replace Windows Defender on installation.

The Premium version (if that's what the OP is referring to) is indeed designed to replace your regular or the built-in AV in Windoze 10. However when I tried v3 of the Premium version a year or two ago, it was a severe memory hog and was killing my laptop battery far quicker than my regular AV (NOD32) or without any AV installed. I've no idea if things have improved with the latest version but just be aware that it may not be the lightest AV suite out there.2

I do prefer Kaspersky cloud free over Avast free, seems to be a lot less nag screens and less likely to be a system resource hog, but I am more wary of using it to do banking because of the scare stories, though likely they are just fake news.0
