Confusion over supplier

Options
I have since November 2018 been paying Bulb for my energy. Recently I have received communication from OutfoxTheMarket saying they are my supplier and Bulb never took it over from them. I contacted Bulb who said they are my supplier but OTM are insisting it's them and have sent a bill for £500.
What can I do about this? Can you help in any way?

Do both bills have the same Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN), it is used to identify individual electricity supply points. Look for yours on the bill you are now paying.
You say communication, do you mean an email, lots of fake emails around.

You can use these websites to find your supplier:-
    Gas - https://www.findmysupplier.energy/webapp/index.html
    Electricity - https://www.energynetworks.org/info/faqs/who-is-my-network-operator.html ( two step process)

What happened in November 2018?  .. was this a move into a new property?
If you moved in somewhere new and didn't sign-up with the existing supplier but just opened a new account with Bulb then you may very well not actually have Bulb as your supplier...

  • Thanks all, I didn't move I just changed. It's not a scam and I've received both letter and email, I've been querying with OTM via email and they have been replying. I can't see the MPAN on the Bulb website and OTM have just sent a letter with an outstanding amount.
I will defo check out the links - thanks again for the advise.

You need to contact Bulb and get them to sort it out.
They are your new supplier and are responsible for managing the switch entirely.

It should not really be possible that 2 suppliers are charging you for the same usage, so sounds like Bulb have messed up somewhere.

The MPAN will be on your bill even if it isn't on the web site.
If this was a switch then do use the links to check who is officially your provider and go from there.

Thanks for all the comments. Turns out Bulb applied to take over my electricity and not the gas. So I've now had a bill for over £550 for gas -- each are now charging me for single accounts instead of saving via dual-fuel account. Needless to say I have not completely changed supplier for both.

Don't forget that quite often separate suppliers can be cheaper.
